Chapter 2 of 7
Wave functions and uncertainty
Chapter 2 shows that quantum mechanics predicts probabilities, not definite outcomes.
It introduces the ideas of probabilistic positions and how they come from wave functions. This gets us to superposition where particles have probabilities of being in many places. We will look at how observing an experiment can change its result. This will lead to the topic of uncertainty and the famous Schrödinger’s cat thought experiment. The ideas introduced are all part of the Copenhagen Interpretation of quantum mechanics.
