Forces

Chapter 4 shows that the forces that shape our universe are carried by particles and governed by the symmetries of quantum fields.

It shows how the force particles in the Standard Model enable three of the four natural forces: electromagnetism, strong nuclear force and weak nuclear force. We also introduce the idea of gauge invariance and show how it can be used to derive the rules for how forces operate.
